Boy Scout Troop 422 – Smyrna, Tennessee

We are just over halfway of our week at summer camp and it is time to start preparing for scouts to return on Friday June 17th.

If you could please let me know by tomorrow afternoon (Thursday) by email to smyrnatroop422@gmail.com , your plans to either pick your scout up from camp or to wait till the troop returns Friday night will be much appreciated.   Be sure to include your Scout’s name in the email 🙂

Scouts may leave camp after the troop gear is loaded following afternoon classes. We would expect to have troop and scout gear packed and loaded by flag lowering @ 6:15 pm.

Parents/siblings may purchase a meal ticket at check in at the Cripple Crab and eat with scouts @ 6:25 pm. All are encouraged to stay for closing campfire ceremony. For those waiting for scouts to return to the scout church for pick up, you can tentatively plan for 9-10 pm for the troop return.

Tonight’s meeting, 5/16/16, is a PLC meeting.  The meeting is only for Boy’s in a leadership position such as SPL, Patrol Leader, Quartermaster etc…   Parents ARE welcome and encouraged to attend; we do have an separate meeting where the adults talk about the business side of the troop and we DO need your help!  Meeting starts at 6:30pm @ the Church.

We need 10 more people to work the Airshow!

The Smyrna Air show is coming up on June 4th and 5th.  This is how the troop raises a good portion of its money to get supplies and equipment and other items.  It is quite an interesting experience.

All, we will meet at the Church @ 6pm on Friday May 13th, we will depart at 6:15pm.  Be sure to eat before you come as we will NOT be cooking a meal Friday night.

We will return on Sunday at 10:30am @ the Church.

Come out to the First Presbyterian Church on Sam Ridley Pkwy. this Saturday for the church work day.  It will start at 8:00am.  Make sure to bring work gloves.  It will last 3-4 hours.  This is a great way to give back to the church that hosts us.

Due to weather, we are postponing the cleanup today.  New date to be announced soon.

As most of you are aware Tennessee weather (and the forecast) can change about about every ten minutes. After some debate, the decision on the work day is this. “If its raining at 8:00 we will reschedule, if not please be there.” Hopefully the weather will cooperate tomorrow with everyone’s plans.

Memorial Day Flag Placement

Saturday May 28^th Troop 422 will host and execute the Memorial Day Flag Placement at Mapleview Cemetery in cooperation with Smyrna Fire Department and Rolling Thunder TN1. Ceremony will begin promptly at 9:00 am. Please plan to arrive no later than 8:45 am. Parking will be limited so please consider carpooling to the event. All youth members of scouting are invited to participate. Everyone in the community is invited to attend.
