On the afternoon of March 22, 2008, scout Thomas Neff of Boy Scout Troop 422 was awarded the Eagle Rank. The Court of Honor was held at 2 PM at the Stewarts Creek Church of Christ. Within the Neff family, Thomas is a fourth generation Boy Scout and a third generation Eagle Scout. During the ceremony, Thomas’s great-grandmother presented him with the Eagle badge worn by his great grandfather, Thomas Neff Sr., from the 1920’s. He was then presented the Eagle badge earned by his grandfather, Thomas Neff, Jr., back in the 1950’s.
Thomas O. Neff IV is the son of Tom and Kathy Neff. He was born on November 29, 1989 in Nashville, Tennessee.
Thomas’s scouting adventure began as a Tiger Cub in 1996 at the age of seven in Pack 339. As a Webelo scout, Thomas earned the highest award, the Arrow of Light. He crossed over into Boy Scouts in 2001.
Thomas joined Troop 422 in May of 2001. He has held numerous positions of responsibility in Troop 422, including Senior Patrol Leader. He is now a registered Assistant Scoutmaster with the troop. Thomas’s Eagle project was an overlook built behind Gregory Mill Park on Stewart’s Creek.
Thomas is now a senior at Smyrna High School. He is a captain of the Trap Shooting team. He is graduating in May and plans to attend MTSU in the fall and study aerospace.
