Scouts from the Badger Patrol went rappelling at Stone Door on Saturday, March 4, 2007. Departing on a day excursion from the troop campout at Old Stone Fort State Park, the Badgers, accompanied by patrol advisors, parents, and trained rappelling guides, spent the day rappelling down the 160 foot cliff face of Stone Door.
The activity was another step in Troop 422’s plans, lead by Assistant Scoutmaster Rob Reeves, to provide a high-adventure program for the more experienced scouts in the troop. Among the activities planned for the spring and summer are backpacking trips (including Virgin Falls and Stone Door) and whitewater canoeing/kayaking on the Hiwassee River.
